Eastern Steelhead
Trout

At
Karen's prompting I finally got up to the Erie tribs
this past w/e for our first go at eastern
steelhead. That's right, she practically had to
drag me. The horror stories I'd always heard
about combat fishing had always kept me from even
considering exercising this option, but with the
arrival of truly cold weather, snow, the Steelers
playing (and losing! to Oakland!!) at home, and with
deer season still under way I thought that as long as
we did a little walking and stayed away from the more
popular, big-name tribs we could carve out some
semi-solitude in which to finally try out this
fishery. All I can say is "WOW", and this while
the consensus view was that the catching was kind of
off (fairly clear-ish, low-ish, 37.5F flows).
We will definitely be doing this again. Its a
four-hour, but very easy drive straight up I-79.

My
better half is duly jazzed as well. A couple of
pics are attached.
